PINE FOREST HIGH SCHOOL

The Early Childhood Education Program at Pine Forest High School was created to help students obtain marketable skills in the Child Care industry. Students completing the three courses in Early Childhood Education will earn three high school credits, be certified in the State of Florida to work in a day care center and possibly qualifty for the Gold Seal program which is part of the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program. Early Childhood IV allows seniors to gain on the job training (OJT) in the child care industry by working in a child care center during part of the school day. These paid work-study positions.

Early Childhood I
in this course students learn about children, developing projects, preparing bulletin boards, learning from guest speakers, and planning fun activities and nutritious snacks for children.

 

Early Childhood II & III
this course is for Juniors and Seniors only and requires two elective. Students are bused to an Elementary school where they serve as teaching assistants to regular classroom teachers.

 

After you have completed Early Childhood I, II & III, you will have met the requirements required by the state of Florida to work in daycare in Florida.

 

Early Childhood IV and OJT
These courses are for seniors only. The two programs allow seniors to earn high school credit and have a paying job in the child care industry during the school day.
