This course introduces students to the French language and its culture; develps listening, speaking, and pronunciation skills; and fosters cross-cultural understanding. Reading and writing are also included.

This course reinforces the fundamental skills previously learned in French I. The course expands listening and oral skills with more emphasis on reading, writing, and grammar and includes a survey of French-speaking people. Prerequisite: French I
 
0701340 French III 1 credit
This course expands the skills previously learned in French II. The course includes vocabulary and conversational activities which include contemporary vocabulary from everyday life activities of French-speaking people. Acquisition of grammatical concepts is strengthened by analyzing reading selections. Prerequisite: French II
 
0701350 French IV 1 credit
This course continues to expand skills previously learned in French III. Students study more advanced lanaguage structures and idiomatic expressions, with emphasis on conversational skills. Additional vocabulary for practical purposes, including writing, is included. Reading selections are varied. Prerequisite: French III
 
0701380 Advanced Placement French Language 1 credit
This course develops comprehension of formal and informal spoken French; vocabulary and structure which allow the reading of newspapers, magazines, and modern French literature; expository composition skills; and accuarte and fluent oral expression. Prerequisite: French III or FRE 2201.
