| This course is designed for students functioning well below grade level in reading and is delivered in a Direct Instruction format. Emphasis on phonics, decoding, and bsic reading skills are reinforced through mastery of lessons presented. | ||
| 1008300 | Reading I (Level I) | 1/2 or 1 credit |
| This course helps students who have serious reading problems. The course includes instruction in basic vocabulary, comprehension, study skills, listening, writing, and recreational reading. | ||

| This course continues the development of reading capabilities. The course includes instruction in vocabulary, comprehension, study skills, listening, speaking, wriing, test-taking techniques, and recreational reading. | ||

| Thsi course is designed to continue the development of reading skills. Emphasis is placed on helping the student become an effective and independent learner by using a variety of reading strategies and knowing when it is appropriate to use them. The content includes study skills, vocabulary development, increased comprehension and reading rate. A variety of materials and methods will be used to enhance instruction and learning. | ||

| This semester long course focuses on developing advanced reading skills for college bound students. The content includes instruction in literal, inferential, and evaluative comprehension. Emphasis is placed on students performing indvidual and group tasks that require the use of creative thinking skills to define problems, investigate possible causes, identify possible soution, and select the best solutions. The course also focuses on test-taking anstudy skills that include emphasis on the ACT and SAT. | ||
