JROTC
The Junior Reserve Officer Traiing Corps (JROTC) program is a four-year program cosponsored by the School District of Escambia County and the military. The JROTC program provides students with opportunities to develop citizenship, leadership, and knowledge of military careers, procedures, terminology, and concepts.
 
1802300 Naval Science I 1 credit
This course introduces students to the precepts of citizenship, elements of leadership, the value of scholarship in attaining goals, the appreciation and traditions of America, with recognition that the historically significant role of sea power will be important in America's future. The course develops in each cadet a growing sense of pride in his organization, associates, and self. Laboratory sessions in drills, commands, and ceremonies are included in the course.
 
1802310 Naval Science II 1 credit
This course builds on the general introduction provided in Naval Science I and further develops the traits of citizenship and leadership in students. Content includes ongoing instruction in leadership theory, health education, naval orientation, maritime history from 1860 to World War II, Meteorology and Weather, Navigation Fundamentals and Rules of the Road, Small Boat Seamanship and Survival Training. Continued laboratory sessions in drills, commands, and ceremonies. Prerequisite: Naval Science I or equipvalent and/or Naval Science Instructor approval.
 
1802320 Naval Science III 1 credit
This course broadens the understanding of students in the operative principles of military leadership, the concept and signifcance of teamswork, the intrinsic value of good order and discipline in the accomplishment of assigned objectives. The course include ongoing instruction in leadership and discipline, naval orientation, naval history of World War II to Bosnia, International Law and the Sea, Sea Power and National Sercurity, Military Justice, Astronomy and fundamentals of Electricity and Electronics. Prerequisite: Naval Science II or equivalent and/or Naval Science Instructor approval.
 
1802330 Naval Science IV 1 credit
This course broadens the knowledge of command, physical fitness, personnel inspection, and parade in company review. Academics are conducted at the appropriate level for enrolled students and includes topics on naval tactics, reserach and development, and modern ordinances. Laboratory activities include drill, commands and cermony, and physical fitness. Prerequisite: Naval Science I, II, III, or equivalent and/or Naval Science Instructor approval.
