How to apply:
The School Choice Application will be available on the Workforce Education website during the application window.
All applicants will receive notification of their acceptance status from the Office of School Choice after all applications have been reviewed.

Design Services Academy
Welcome to the Design Services Academy Webpage! This academy is one of a kind and catered specifically to the students here at Pine Forest. The purpose of this program is to prepare students for initial employment or continued study in the areas of Interior Design and Decorating, Graphic Design, Web Design, Print Design, and Fashion Design.
This academy provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and the relevant technical knowledge and skills to perform numerous tasks in our areas of study. The content includes, but is not limited to broad transferable skills and the knowledge and demonstration of the following aspects of the design industry:
- Planning
- Management
- Finance
- Entrepreneurship
- Production
- Design History
- Underlying Principles of Technology
industry certifications
Students have the opportunity to earn an Adobe Photoshop certification. This is a respected certification in the design industry. Students with these certifications will have an advantage when entering the workforce after high school.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Students will acquire skills for a wide range of design service careers that include but are not limited to: Interior and Spacial Designer, Visual Merchandiser, Stylist, Product Designer/Manager, Creative/Art Director, Multimedia Designer, Fashion Sales Representative, and many more! Students who obtain their industry certifications during the program will have an advantage when applying for jobs throughout high school and during college.
scholArships
Students are offered the opportunity to qualify for Bright Futures and Gold Seal scholarships. Students must obtain two industry certifications and have 30 volunteer hours to qualify. The culinary arts instructors will work closely with students to help them obtain this scholarship.
Design students will have the opportunity to work in the The Eagle Eye Pop Up Shop. Students will learn skills in mass print production, customer service, money handling, teamwork, time management, and have the opportunity to use their industry certification knowledge.

MS. HARRISON
Hi, I'm Ms. Jaris V. Harrison and I teach Design Services! I love expressing my creativity in many ways. I am passionate about making sure my students leave my academy with a new trade or skill and I enjoy teaching them how to think outside the box. I have a bachelors degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Finance and Marketing.
I am an experienced graphic and web designer and I love to teach my students about entrepreneurship and careers in design.
